LA General Medical Center — Restorative Care Village, Phase 5 - Psychiatric Sub-Acute
Los Angeles, CA
SWA Architects and our design-build partners at Abbott Construction were selected by the County of Los Angeles through a competitive process for this very significant behavioral health undertaking at the Los Angeles General Medical Center (formerly LAC+USC). Lovingly referred to as “Phase 5”, the LAGMC Restorative Care Village Psychiatric Subacute complex is one of the first projects of its kind in the State of California. Six (6) independent 16-bed psychiatric subacute entities have been consolidated into a single generously landscaped site.
Designed with the well-being of the facility’s staff and clients in mind, Phase 5 offers the capacity and service benefits of a large institutional structure but delivered through a non-imposing and unoppressive design. Great care has been taken to allow access to natural light whenever possible, and equal care has also been provided to protect client privacy as well.
This project is currently undergoing a fast-tracked design process with an anticipated permit date in early 2025.
