Master Plan, Desert Regional Medical Center
Palm Springs, CA
In providing solutions for California Senate Bill compliance, a full campus needs assessment was prepared to assist Desert Regional Medical Center, Tenet Healthcare, in evaluating the potential current business plan and strategizing projected departmental growth for the next 15 years.
A full strategic market analysis of the Coachella Valley was conducted with the hospital’s senior management team. Projections of census-based workload data and interviews with both department heads and executive administration were used to identify departmental space deficiencies as well as the need for new services in the hospital’s business plan.
The solution proposed a multi phased implementation within a ten year period. Phase I would establish a new 4-story patient tower. Phase II would involve the renovation and expansion of the existing Labor & Delivery and Emergency Departments. Phase III would include a new Heart/Neuro Institute, and Surgery Radiology expansion. Lastly, Phase IV would decommission the East Wing.
